What’s Free (With Coupons) This Week

Posted on June 4th, 2012 by Coupon Cathy

We’ve heard it said that “Time is money.” But, that’s not always used in a positive context. Time is more than money. However, sometimes a little bit of time can translate into money. A little bit of time invested in couponing can save–and maybe even make–money! Time invested in clipping, printing and organizing coupons; a little bit of time filling out and mailing a rebate form; or, a little bit of time wisely using store rewards dollars can go a long way. Here’s your list of money savers and money makers this week!

What freebies will you “buy” this week?

I don’t fall for the Rite Aid, CVS, and Walgreens ‘rewards’ programs. The supposed savings expire in a week or two. They can be used only at the store that issues them. Although I’m not positive, I also believe they cannot be used at the pharmacy which would draw me to one of these stores to begin with. I once had $4 ‘Extra Care Bucks’ from CVS. I attempted to purchase a $2.99 item, knowing full well I couldn’t get money/change back. They wouldn’t accept it. So their hook is getting me to buy something more expansive, thus defeating the purpose of the ‘saving.’ Also, items available at these stores is limited. I note Target, which is a general merchandise store which happens to have pharmacy, does not offer these so-called ‘savings.’
