Our family went on a little road trip this past weekend. We weren’t prepared. By the end of the trip, we had been to a store of some sort 5 times to get something we forgot or ran out of. It got me thinking about wasting money on trips and how unnecessary it is if you plan correctly. Here three awesome ways to waste money on a road trip.
1. Run out of diapers. Our kids got sick if you know what I mean. We always can bring diapers home with us so the extras aren’t that big of a deal, but if you are dealing with a monthly or even weekly budget, buying extra diapers can be taxing. Just bring extra to “cover” any situation.
2. Buy snacks on the road. It’s amazing what little gas stations charge for snacks. It’s so much cheaper just to hit Target, Walmart, Costco, etc and bring your own little cooler than buying things individually. Plus impulse buying at stores will hurt the wallet too.
3. Buy expensive gas. We hit 3 states on our road trip and the difference between the state’s gas was around $.30. Check before you go for the lowest prices through AAA or Gas Buddy. We only had to drive an extra 15 minutes for those lower prices. We about died when we saw the lower price and we had just filled up.
