Thrifty Tip: Ready, Set….Wait
There are so many tips to help us save money through couponing and discount shopping. However, I have found that one of the most important and least talked about principle of saving money is waiting! Waiting for the best deal.
Whenever you can simply wait for the best deals and stock up, whether or not you have a coupon, you will save money in the long run.
I need to give a few disclaimers at this point. Of course, if you are out of diapers or toilet paper and simple cannot wait for the best deal, you do what you have to do. And, if you simply do not have the cash on hand to stock up when the deal does become available, then you buy what you can. However, if you are able to wait for the best deal and then stock up when it becomes available, it’s amazing how much money you can save.
Here are just a few of the items that I usually wait for:
The best deals I get are unadvertised sales and clearance deals. I have a 3 year old and a one year old. If I can get a great deal on diapers, it doesn’t matter how much I have on stock already because there is no doubt that I will eventually need more. Sometimes Amazon has amazing deals on diapers and wipes. So, I take advantage of those deals when I can.
Because of the plumbing system where we live, we have to buy Scott toilet paper. So, I am always on the lookout for Scott coupons and sales. I never pay full price!
Our family eats only organic or all-natural meats. They are very expensive. So, we wait for them to get discounted at half price and stock up what we can. That way there is no hurry to buy and we never pay full price for our quality meats.
What are your wait-to-stock up on items?
spread the word!
