Much like many things you make at home yourself, salad dressings are a great way to save money on your grocery bill and to be honest taste a thousand times better. My husband always laughs at me because I judge a restaurant by it’s ranch dressing-true story!
Over the past few years, I have gone to exclusively making my own dressings and I highly doubt I will ever go back to store bought again. Here are two of my favorites and I almost always have the ingredients on hand. Even though you could coupon and get good deals on dressing, the price is still cheaper to make your own (unless you get it free) and I promise the taste is MUCH better!
Tangy dressing (this is awesome and VERY healthy)
1/4 C apple cider vinegar
3 T. sugar (I use honey)
1 tsp. grated onion
1/4 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. celery seed
1/4 tsp. dry mustard
1/8 tsp. paprika
1/2 C oil (I use canola)
Mix all together and enjoy! I would suggest doubling the batch because this is amazing, plus it has apple cider vinegar which is incredibly good for you!
Homemade Ranch (To DIE for if you are a ranch fan. I promise you’ll never go back to bottle again.)
3/4 cup mayonnaise
3/4 cup sour cream
1 tbsp olive oil
1 tbsp lemon juice
1/4 to 1 cup buttermilk
1 small bunch of chives or 2 scallions, chopped
Small handful of parsley
1 clove garlic (stick to this instruction, I used two and it was too much. I am a HUGE garlic lover too)
1/2 tsp sea salt
1/4 tsp freshly ground black pepper
Put in a blender and blend 🙂
