Thrifty Divas work hard, but every now and then we get a free day in the form of the Snow Day. It’s a day off where we can enjoy not being at work without being sick. It’s a time for family to stay safe and warm indoors and off the roads. Here are a few suggestions to help you make the most of your Snow Day.
Yes, there are those of us who get up early, check the news and see if we have a delay or day off. Once you have confirmed that go back to bed for a little bit and enjoy not needing to be anywhere right now.
Extra Pajama Time
Stay in your pajamas longer than you usually would. It’s cold out there and no need for changing clothes. You don’t plan to go anywhere and you have been storing body heat in you jammies all night long. It would be wasteful to try to get dressed right now. You would have to turn the heat up. Add your fuzzy slippers and a warm robe instead.
Inevitably for those of us with children or at least a child like spirit we need to spend some time outside. Don’t worry. It’s cold enough to reduce the time outside to three minutes. That’s enough time to make a snow angel or snowball. If you are feeling ambitious, you could even go all out and try to make a snowman. Then come back inside, change into something dry and warm, and have some hot chocolate.
Let your faucets drip a little. Flowing water reduces the chances of your pipes freezing and bursting. Set your windshield wipers up so that they don’t freeze to your windshield. If you have outside stairs be sure to salt them reducing the chances of water freezing on them and the risk of slipping. Pull out the extra blankets. Snow Day or not Thrifty Divas don’t want the extra repair or medical bills.
