Purses are handy and every woman knows it. We use them for carrying around our phone, money, and make up. The smart woman knows that a purse can also be a form of every day mini emergency preparedness.
No need to throw out a shirt or pair of pants over a lost button or seem rip. You may not even need to spend the day with a jacket tied around your waist if you carry a sewing kit in your purse. Most tops come with a spare button attached to the tag at purchase. Some even come with extra buttons sewn to the inside of the sleeve. You can even save yourself hassles by carrying a sewing kit in your purse. Put safety pins to good use in place of a broken zipper or bra latch.
First Aid Kit
Having a first aid kit on hand can save a great deal of grief. It reduces the chances of a cut getting infected and the need to visit a doctor for minor injuries. A first aid kit should include an antiseptic, bandages in various shapes and sizes, and tweezers for stings or slivers. If you have low blood sugar, consider adding hard candy to your kit. It is also a good idea to always carry water with you whether it’s for cleaning out a wound or for drinking. I stopped trusting public water fountains long ago.
So you’re hungry and thinking about going through a drive through. Instead start carrying snacks with you. It will save you those dollar menu buys. It can be healthier if you pack the right type of snacks such as nuts, dried fruit, or even some crackers. Not only will it hold off those hunger pains until you get home, it will also help hold off hungry toddlers.
Having a non electronic hobby in your purse will pass the time in waiting rooms without fear of losing your entertainment due to a low battery. Carry small books of sudoku, cross words, or word searches. They may not be as popular as they once were, but when you are bored and waiting you won’t care. Especially if you need to use these to entertain a whiny, bored child. 😉
