Jane By Design Style Challenge #7 – The Final Challenge!
This is your last chance to help Thrifty Divas win a mention on the show!!! Please be sure to go to Jane by Design’s Facebook page and write on their wall “Thrifty Divas sent me here!” That will count as your vote for us.
Did you see the premiere of Jane by Design last night? If you missed it, you can watch it online for free at ABCFamily.com.
Speaking of the premiere, the Jane by Design Style Challenge #7 was to watch the premiere of the show, take careful notice of the fashion, pick a particular outfit from the show, and create a “How You Too Can Get the Look” blog post.
My inspiration: Andie MacDowell
Andie MacDowell plays Gray Chandler Murray, better known as Jane’s boss.
In the premiere episode, Gray interviewed Jane to fill the job as her assistant. While she scrutinized Jane’s look, I was too busy keeping my eye on Gray.
The first thing you notice is of course, the gold and turquoise statement necklace.
I found this similar necklace on eBay, my favorite source for unique and affordable accessories. This necklace is listed “Buy It Now” at $19.99 with free shipping.
Next up, the little black dress. Keeping in the rigors of fashion I shopped name brand (though no doubt you can find an even cheaper knock-off ) yet miraculously found an affordable Calvin Klein!
First, Print This Coupon, then go to your local Staples and pick up your FREE reusable shopping tote bag at the Customer Service Desk. Bonus, with the coupon you’ll also receive an extra 15% off your purchase as long as it all fits in that one bag.
They say you can tell a lot about a person by their bag. On the new ABCFamily show Jane by Design, the character Gray Chandler Murray says, “The bag you carry says who you are and who you want to be.” I prefer to look at it another way. I say, “The bag you carry says where you’ve been and where you are going!”
The bag that best represents my personality was purchased at the Smithsonian Natural History Museum gift shop in Washington, D.C.
To me this bag says:
“I love to travel.”
“I have an international flair for style.”
“I’m practical with the long strap and modest bag size.”
“I enjoy luxury. Who doesn’t love the look and feel of satin?”
But this bag has a secret. It was thrifty too! Shhh… less than $15 was a steal of a bargain! Though, you wouldn’t know that looking at it. In fact, the closest current item I could find on SmithsonianStore.com has an original price of $75. Sometimes in-person shopping leads to the best deals. Plus, I get to have the fun memory of visiting Washington, D.C. and retell the story every time someone asks me where I bought this bag.
Now are you itching to share your adorable purse with the world? Go HERE and post a picture of your favorite purse! Be sure to mention Thrifty Divas sent you.
