We are already a few days into September. But, we can still benefit from a little heads up as to what we can expect to be on sale this month. Here are a few highlights:
Back-to-School
We probably have just one more week for back to school and office supply sales: pens, pencils, paper (filler and printing), backpacks, erasers, folders, binders, dividers, markers, composition notebooks as well as tissue boxes and disinfecting wipes.
Diabetes Awareness Month
Look for glucose meters, Glucerna cereal, diabetic socks, test strips, sugar free products, vitamins and weight scales should all be discounted this month.
Seasonal Produce
This is one of my favorite categories to look for each month. This month we will likely see deals on the following produce: apples, artichokes, beans, berries, cucumbers, eggplant, grapes, onions, peaches, pears (Asian and Bartlett), peppers (bell and chili), potatoes, squash, tomatillo and tomatoes.
End of Summer Sales
I’m on the lookout for some discounted or clearance patio furniture at about now. It’s a great time to get items that will still work for those of us who will be able to spend lots of time outdoors through the winter. Or, if you have space, you can always store your summer/outdoor items for later. Here’s what you can expect to find on sale: restaurants deals, shoe and apparel store promotions, BBQ sauce, condiments, hamburger buns, chips, soda, camping supplies and outdoor recreation items.

If you’re gonna have to shop for back to school, it’s nice to be able to get deals on what you need! Are you done shopping for back to school? Or, do you still have a little more shopping to do?
If every penny counts, then approximately 8% counts too! It may not be eight percent in your state, but whatever it is, saving money on sales tax is definitely a good reason to get out to purchase what you already need. In the state of Texas, tax free weekend takes place twice a year: once on energy saving items and the other for back-to-school items. But, you would be amazed at the list!
The list in our state includes expected items such as school clothes, back packs, pencils, white out and notebooks. However, you may be surprised at other tax exempt items. Diapers! Yep, diapers both children and adult diapers are tax exempt. Hats, rain hats, scarves, belts, pajamas, ties, nightgowns, leotards, tights. As you can see, the list is not your typical “back to school” list.
I have not yet participated in a tax free weekend. However, I plan to get out to pick up some diapers for my little in home potty training students As a thrifty mama diva, I plan to maximize my savings by using coupons and store rewards. I may get a nice deal on a box or two of diapers! And, maybe I’ll even pick up a fun hat while I’m at it 
Check to see if your state participates in tax free weekends here. Then check to see what items are tax exempt in your state, as they do vary from state to state.
Saving money makes the weekend just a little more fun!
