We all have stress filled busy lives whether we are stay at home moms, or ladies with a career to carry out. Sometimes it’s hard to find the time to just take a breather ourselves. It’s even harder to fit that breather into our schedules and budgets. Here are a few ways to do just that.
Have a picnic. Sunlight is good for us and has a way of making many things just feel better. Fresh air and a blue sky can take you away from the stress of the office even if your lunch break is only half an hour. Find a nearby park, a public library with a little garden, or even sit under a tree in a parking lot. You will find yourself refreshed and a bit more ready to face the rest of your day.
Extra Long Grooming
Brushing your hair or lightly scratching your scalp helps reduce stress. A long shower with a scented body wash, a bubble bath, or scented candles are all relaxing. Even an extra long shower helps wash that stress away. This one is highly recommended to those who love their family but need a little me time. Nobody can find much fault in an extra long hygiene routine.
Go To The Library
If your kids are driving you crazy, and you need to get out of the house, go to the library. Most libraries have an enclosed children section with one entrance/exit. Sit next to this spot so you can ensure your children stay within that area. Remind them that the library is a quiet zone and let them pick out books. Take advantage of story time if it is available. Some book stores also have a story time followed by an arts and crafts activity. You can even have the children bring you a few books and have your own reading time. At the very least you will get to sit down in a semi quiet setting.
The Hand Off
When your spouse gets home hand something off. Can you just not bare to see another dish today? Do you need a half hour child free? Are you okay with hot dogs tonight, just as long as you don’t have to cook them? Give your spouse a few minutes to breath and then ask to hand off one of these responsibilities. After al,l we all need a little help every now and then.
