Removing Gel Nail (For Cheap)

Posted on June 13th, 2013 by Discount Debbie

About 3 weeks ago I got a gel manicure. It was the second half of a Mother’s Day gift and it was awesome. The gel stays on so much longer than regular polish. And let’s not lie, it’s nice to be pampered. However, mine needed to come off. I wasn’t going to have them redone or pay the money to have them taken off so I went to Walgreens for some sort of gel remover. They had this big fancy kit that was tempting, but it didn’t seem worth the $11 and I wasn’t going to spend $15 to go back to the salon to have it taken off.

Instead I looked at the expensive kit from Walgreens, checked out the ingredients and decided I could totally do it at home.

All I needed was 3 things.
Tinfoil
Acetone
Cotton swabs
Approximate cost $3

Compared to $11 for one application, I thought $3 was great for probably 6-8 applications. This is a great option for those of you who gets these often.

What To Do
1. Dip a cotton swab in the acetone.
2. Wrap it around your nail.
3. Take strips of tinfoil and wrap it around your nail.
4. Sit for 5-7 minutes.
5. Take off and scrap the polish off with another fingernail.

Done! The polish came off so easily and I saved a ton of money!
