You know who’s not crafty? This girl right here!
I so badly want to be which is why I tried this craft. In addition to loving the concept of crafts, I so dearly love the sentimental part of crafts. This one is especially sentimental since it’s a hand mold of my children’s hands.
You may have seen this craft lurking on Pinterest and I’m here to tell you, you MUST try it. My children already feels more special.
And the second best part besides the sentimental value? The price! By my calculations, my ornaments only cost around $.50! It’s 3 simple ingredients that you probably already have in your house. I did!
What You Need
1/2 cup salt
1 cup of all purpose flour
1/4 cup of water
What To Do
1. Mix all the ingredients well.
2. Split it into 2-3 pieces and flatten it with your hands.
3. Mold your child(rens) hand into the flour.
4. I cut mine out around the fingers, but you don’t have to.
5. Make a hole in it for the ribbon.
6. Cook at 200 degrees for 3 hours.
Let them cool completely and then decorate as you’d like. I didn’t seal mine, but you can most certainly by some clear sealant from a craft store.
Some friends of mine made handprints the same day I did and I wanted to share their’s too to give you an idea of how many ideas there are. Plus they are much more crafty than I am 😉
