Little Holiday Splurges

Posted on December 19th, 2013 by Discount Debbie

I like to save money as much as the next woman, but during the holidays I do enjoy a few little splurges that help keep me in the Christmas Spirit.

Paper Plates

I hate doing dishes. It’s worse when I’m pregnant because I can smell everything. So this Holiday season my husband bought paper plates, cups and and plastic utensils. I still wash the pots and pans, but it takes less time and less sense of smell. During the holiday season it helps me be able to spend more time with my family rather than in the kitchen.

Baked Goods

Some people love to bake. I thinks it’s a wonderful and fun talent, but it’s one I don’t have. Instead of stressing myself out during the holiday season I do tube cinnamon rolls for breakfast and store bought cookies for snacks. For dinner I make home made pizza. This reduces the mommy stress in me so that I can focus on doing the fun things I love about the holidays with my kids. We do arts and crafts together and decorate the tree.

Candles

Just because I don’t bake, doesn’t mean that I don’t want my ┬áhome to smell like I do. I splurge on candles that smell like gingerbread or sugar cookies. I get all the scents of Christmas to keep me in a merry mood.
