Homemade “Nestle” Quick Powder

Posted on April 20th, 2012 by Discount Debbie

In our house, it’s me the mom who drinks all the chocolate milk. It’s kind of my nightly treat. So last night at 10pm and the kids were in bed and I found that I was out of my chocolate milk mix, I flipped out! Okay, flipped out is a little extreme, but I was very disappointed.

Then it hit me…

I bet I could just make it from scratch with ingredients from my kitchen. Not only is it incredibly EASY, but I bet almost everyone has these ingredients in their kitchen.

The verdict on the simple recipe: It’s amazing! It’s very rich and very tasty.

Are you interested now? There are only three simple ingredients in this copycat recipe. It’s cocoa, sugar and a pinch of salt. It doesn’t get easier than that.

Easy Copycat Chocolate Milk Powder
2/3C Cocoa
1C sugar or less if desired
dash of salt

I would put it into a clean coffee grinder to get it really fine so it dissolves quickly.

For all you naturally minded people, you’ll get a kick out of this. The ingredients for original Nestle Quick is listed below.
SUGAR, COCOA PROCESSED WITH ALKALI, SOY LECITHIN, CARRAGEENAN, SALT, ARTIFICIAL FLAVORS, SPICE. VITAMINS AND MINERALS: CALCIUM CARBONATE, ASCORBIC ACID (VITAMIN C), ZINC OXIDE, PYRIDOXINE HYDROCHLORIDE (VITAMIN B6), COPPER GLUCONATE, MANGANESE SULFATE, BIOTIN.

That’s a little more than 3 huh? So this is even better for you!

I love finding ways to save money and use what’s already in my house.

I believe you meant to say and a pinch of salt, not sugar.
