Cookie bars are my favorite. They’re so dense and sugary, and it helps that I’m already obsessed with regular cookies so having that same deliciousness in a larger bar form is heaven. Add in some M&Ms and Twix bits and I’m sold! Thats what this recipe from Buzzfeed includes, and it’s perfect for after Halloween when you and your family are up to your ears in Trick-or-Treat candy. (And all of the leftover candies from your stash for Trick-or-Treaters.)
All you do is create a simple cookie bar recipe and add in the candies you want! I personally think that Twix, Snickers, peanut butter cups and M&Ms work best. Though you can’t go wrong with a little Three Musketeers or Crunch Bar thrown in there, too! Bring on all the leftover candy!
1 cup white sugar
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup butter, melted
1 tablespoon vanilla
½ teaspoon salt
2 cups flour
2 cups assorted candy, chopped
1. Preheat oven to 350ºF/175ºC.
2. Chop your Halloween candy into bite-size pieces.
3. In a large bowl, mix sugars and melted butter, whisk until mix turns lighter (around 8 minutes).
4. Mix in eggs and vanilla, then salt and flour until completely blended.
5. Bake for 45-50 minutes.
6. Allow to cool.
7. Cut into squares.
