Goodwill Hunting

Posted on August 16th, 2012 by Discount Debbie

I’ve never been one to shop at thrift shops simply because my one experience years ago was neither easy nor productive. However, over the years, I’ve heard about people getting amazing deals on some amazing stuff at thrift shops. Well, one of the people who has a knack for getting amazing deals on clothes at yard sales and thrift shops is my sister in law.

So, when I was on vacation with my family, my sister in law took me to a new Goodwill store that had opened up in the area. Boy, did my perspective of a trip to a thrift shop change, vastly and immediately!

Because of limited time and resources and a body that went through the changes of two pregnancies in less than three years, I just had not been shopping in a VERY long time. Suffice it to say that I feel like I walked out with a whole new wardrobe. Uh, I think I actually did! I bought shorts, skirts, knit shirts, button down shirts, Ralph Lauren, Jones New York, dressy and casual. Each piece averaged anywhere from $1-$3. I did have one skirt that cost a banner $7.99. That was, by far, the most expensive item!

I would have never dreamed of finding clothes of such style or quality at a thrifty shop! Now, I’m on the look out for one back home. I know that they vary from store to store and the one I went to was a very new store. However, it makes me excited to see if there’s a good one in our area. What a fantastic way to save money without sacrificing your wardrobe!
