Problem skin friends: I have news for you! We can make our own products and save many dollars. Skincare is something very dear to me as I have the most troublesome face. I have always been willing to invest in pricey products in hopes of stopping my annoying breakouts without completely drying out my skin. Lately I have been leaning towards more natural ingredients, which I have been finding at Kiehl’s. As you may know, Kiehl’s can become pretty hurtful to your bank account, so to make my products last longer, I have tried out some DIY treatments as well. This green tea face scrub is one of them! Green tea is now a very popular ingredient in many face masks and washes, because of its antioxidant properties, so that’s why I decided to give this a go.
TIP: If you have sensitive skin like me, I would use this lightly on your face (weekly or every other week is best), BUT you can use it on other body parts as much as you want!
Ingredients you need:
- 1 tablespoon green tea leaves. These are super easy to find in any grocery store or stores like Target, etc.
- 1 cup organic sugar (brown or white, and it should be soft)
- ½ cup extra virgin olive oil
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 10 drops essential oil (this is optional, and you can choose the scent!)
All you have to do is mix the ingredients together in a bowl and store what you don’t use in an air-tight container.
Directions for use:
Use a spoon to scoop the scrub from your container, then gently massage the skin with the scrub for 30 seconds. Rinse of with water afterwards, and blot your face dry with a clean towel.
